Owls seemed like another cool creature to design this year...

And more elephants in fun fabric.

gift tags

For extra festive tags this year, I printed my design on Appleton paper's Curious Collection. It may not be too noticeable in the photo, but the paper has a great sparkle to it.

pretty peppermints

I designed these peppermint ornaments a couple years ago and decided to sew a few more this year because they are so fun and festive.

slowly but surely....

I've been working away on this year's batch of holiday ornaments. Here's one of the many new friends that I've hand sewn for friends and family.

Laduree comes to NYC

Laduree and their Parisian macaroons had me at first bite. The shop recently opened on Madison Avenue, and after waiting in line for 40 minutes I realized that it was worth every minute.

The pretty pastel colors and portraits in the store make for a pleasant waiting experience.

The packaging is lovely and so very Paris.

Boxes are tied carefully tied with a pastel ribbon (of your choice).

If you go, make sure you get the caramel (my favorite)!

MAPS!

Paula Scher has been a source of inspiration for me since I first studied her work in college, and read her book, "Make it Bigger."

Her new book, entitled MAPS showcases her amazing body of work that she started in the 90's. I enjoyed hearing Paula speak at Parsons (sponsored by AIGA) last week about her inspiration and process. You can see more of her maps here.

around town....

One of my favorite places on the Upper East Side is the Lexington Candy Shop. Time really has stood still in this diner which opened in 1925. They make the best egg and cheese sandwich in town!

Xu Bing at the Morgan Library

Chinese artist Xu Bing has done a beautiful installation called "The Living Word," inside the modern hall at the Morgan Library. Using the definition of the word "bird" he transformed Chinese characters to "fly away" up to the sky. It is especially pretty on a sunny day.

happy new home card

My brother and his family recently moved into a new home that I can't wait to see in person.
